Fayetteville Man Arrested For Putting Rat Poison In Cheese At Local Pizza Restaurant
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man accused of contaminating shredded cheese at Primo Pizza, a local Fayetteville restaurant, has been arrested by detectives of the Fayetteville Police Department. After a drawn-out investigation of apparent tampering with food ingredients occurring on June 1st, the Aggravated Assault Unit charged 59-year-old Ricky Lee Adami with Distributing Food Containing Noxious or Deleterious Material.
The manager of Primo Pizza, located at 2810 Raeford Road, noticed the shredded cheese he was working with while preparing pizza seemed to be laced with a foreign substance. He immediately halted preparations and checked surveillance footage to attempt to recognize who had contaminated the cheese, prompting further investigation by FPD. Video revealed Adami, an employee of the pizza joint, had placed this unfamiliar substance into the cheese shredder. Detectives believe Adami used rat poison to contaminate the cheese.
FPD and the manager were able to identify and remove all contaminated cheese from the restaurant prior to exposing customers to any potential harm. Adami is currently being held at Cumberland County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bond.
