Drivers in York Co. urged to remove valuables, lock vehicle doors after string of car break-ins

YORK CO., S.C. – A warning for drivers in York County, after more than 20 cars have been broken into. This string of car break-ins has York County Sheriff’s deputies on alert. Investigators believe thieves are moving through neighborhoods, checking door handles and targeting vehicles left unlocked.

The break-ins happened between May 28 and May 30, at homes off Highway 274 and Highway 49 in Clover.

Investigators say the suspects are white men wearing masks and gloves. They were driving two vehicles: a white Hyundai Elantra and a black sedan. The thieves got away with guns and cash.
