Nearly half a dozen arrests made following murder of 16-year-old Chester County teen

CHESTER, S.C. — Authorities say they arrested nearly half a dozen suspects allegedly involved in the deadly shooting of a teenager in Chester County, S.C.

The drive-by shooting took place on May 3rd on Pinckney Street in Chester, according to an arrest warrant. Authorities say 16-year-old Avery West was killed in the shooting.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Micah Tyquon Cason, 21, with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Cason was booked into the Chester County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 6th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Cason is the final subject charged in this investigation.

Several people have already been arrested and charged in connection to this murder investigation.

SLED charged John-David Estes, 21, with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Kenyetta Adrryll Sims, 53, was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Quentin Craig Jr., 24, was charged with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

SLED charged Dayvontae Lamont Adams, 25, with Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The Chester Police Department and the Chester County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the SLED investigation.
