Statesville Police say bear has been spotted near local park

STATESVILLE, N.C. – Statesville Police say a bear has been spotted near a local park. The department posted a photo on Facebook, showing the bear in the area around Martin Luther King, Junior Park.

Police say while seeing a bear in the city may be surprising, it’s not unusual for them to wander into developed areas.

It has not shown any aggressive behavior and will likely move on. They say never approach, feed or attempt to interact with bears.
