Police are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist in Hickory.
It happened around 8 p.m. Thursday on 13th Avenue Drive SE near Lenoir Rhyne Boulevard SE.
Police said a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling west struck a MINI Cooper from behind that was turning left onto 13th Avenue Drive SE out of a Hampton Inn parking lot.
The motorcyclist, 32-year-old Levi Scovern, was seriously injured and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Excessive speed from the motorcycle is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, police said. No charges have been filed at this time.
