Sparkhouse Uptown grand opening; a place where young adults can take ideas and turn them into income
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Juneteenth marked the opening of what’s being called a “creative opportunity hub” in the Queen City. Sparkhouse Uptown provides spaces to give youth access to tools, technology, and mentorship programs intended to spark economic mobility.
The spaces include a podcasting studio, screen printing hub and a coffee shop. The building is owned by former Charlotte mayor Harvey Gantt.
William McNeely of Do Greater Charlotte says, “We call ’em spark houses. These are houses of opportunity for youth and young adults to come in, get trained, get skills, or take an idea all the way to income.
Another Sparkhouse location is already open on the west side of town off West Morehead Street.
