Attorneys for Alex Murdaugh want his new trial to be in a different county

COLLETON CO., S.C. – Attorneys for Alex Murdaugh have filed a change of venue request and other pretrial motions.

The disbarred South Carolina attorney is being re-tried for the murders of his wife Maggie and 22-year-old son Paul, after the state supreme court vacated his 2023 convictions last month.

Murdaugh’s attorneys argued in their motions that he cannot receive a fair trial in Colleton County, where his previous double murder trial was held.
