MONROE, N.C. – A man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a home in Monroe, according to police.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at a residence off Old Waxhaw Monroe Road.

Deputies said a man, later identified as Hector De Dios-Flores, used a landscaping stone to gain access to the home. Once he was confronted by the homeowner, he fled in a vehicle.

The victim gave a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle, and deputies tracked it down to a nearby school’s parking lot. That’s where they found Dios-Flores walking around in the parking lot and arrested him.

Dios-Flores has been charged with breaking and entering to terrorize or injure. He is being held at the Union County Detention Center.
