Heat resources around Mecklenburg County open as dangerous temps move in
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With extreme temperatures and heat over the holiday weekend, several recreation centers are being designated as cooling stations in Mecklenburg County. For people who need a place to get out of the heat, Roof Above’s Day Services Center will be open extended hours. Outreach staff will visit homeless encampments to share information about relief centers.
The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope will open early and have expanded capacity for women and families. And, Mecklenburg County pools and spray grounds will also be open daily over the holiday weekend.
