Motorcyclist killed, another driver hurt in 4-vehicle crash in Matthews

MATTHEWS, N.C. – One person died and another was injured in a four-vehicle crash in Matthews, according to police.

Police responded to the intersection of East John Street and McKee Road around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. Upon arrival, officers discovered a serious crash involving four cars.

One of the vehicles was a motorcycle and the driver, later identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Hill, was found unresponsive at the scene. He received life-saving measures but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person was injured and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The events leading up to the crash are unclear at this time. The Matthews Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the collision.
