Extreme heat pushing MEDIC to brink; 594 answered calls on Wednesday alone
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The scorching summer heat is pushing local first responders to the brink. MEDIC reports that Wednesday was their second busiest day of the entire year. Dispatchers fielded 594 emergency calls. That included five heat-related emergency responses Wednesday alone, with at least one more reported Thursday.
Officials are urging everyone to limit time outdoors, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors until the temperatures drop.
