Repair Work Continues On An E. Charlotte Road, Could Cause Issues For Morning Commuters

CHARLOTTE, NC — Commuters in east Charlotte may have some added traffic for the morning drive.

An inbound lane on Monroe Road at Timber Springs Drive and McAlpine Station Drive is closed while crews repair a water pipe.

Wednesday’s scorching heat only made the repair work more challenging.

Trent Woodcock with Mohawk Traffic Services says, “Its tough today. This week’s pretty tough. Pushing 100, nonstop sun obviously on the road, we’re on top of a black surface. The temperature may be 100 but to our guys it may feel like 110 for 8-10 hours straight.”

There is still no word on when the lane will reopen.
