YORK COUNTY, S.C.– Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say one person died and another was airlifted to the hospital after an ATV and a pickup truck collided Saturday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Goose Hollow Road in Hickory Grove.
Officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say the driver of the ATV was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The York County Coroner identified the victim as 17-year-old Dalton Wright of Hickory Grove.
Gregory Thompson, 17, was also riding the ATV and was not wearing a helmet and was ejected. Thompson was airlifted to the hospital.
A 16-year-old girl was driving the Dodge pickup truck and was not injured. Her 49-year-old passenger was not injured.
The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
