CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested a teen for his involvement in several northwest Charlotte burglaries.
Antonio Jackson, 17, has been charged with one count of First Degree Burglary, four counts of Attempted First Degree Burglary, and Felony Breaking and Entering.
The CMPD says Jackson is the suspect in the following cases:
- On June 18, 2018, at 11:43 p.m., the victim reported hearing a thud in her house, located in the 2600 Block of Filson Court, after she returned from taking the trash out for collection. The victim hid in her house when she noticed that the suspect had entered. She stayed hidden until he left. Nothing was taken.
- On June 20, 2018, at 2:10 a.m., the victim reported that while in her home in the 10100 Block of Garman Hill Drive, she heard a loud thud and realized that someone was kicking in her door.
- On June 20, 2018, 2:13 a.m., the victim reported that while in her home at the 2200 Block of Winding River Drive, she heard a thud and realized that someone was kicking in her door.
- On June 21, 2018, at 1:50 a.m., the victim reported that while inside her home in the 2600 Block of Filson Court, the suspect made an attempt to enter her home by kicking the door. The suspect did not make entry. The victim had previously filed a breaking and entering report the day before, on June 20, 2018, for the same location.
- On June 21, 2018, at 2:35 a.m., the victim reported that her house, located in the 2200 Block of Winding River Drive, was broken into and the alarm was sounding. The victim was not home during the incident.
Detectives used footage from one of the victim’s security cameras to identify Jackson as the suspect.
On June 23rd, 2018, detectives and patrol officers planned an operation to apprehend Jackson. During the operation, police saw Jackson leave his house on Winding River Drive and case houses on the street.
Shortly thereafter, Jackson was seen walking back toward his house. After about five minutes Jackson did not return to his residence and officers received reports of a breaking and entering at a residence in the 10500 block of Carver Falls Road, in the same neighborhood.
Officers and detectives saw Jackson running back to his residence and attempted to detain him. Jackson proceeded to run and hide when authorities attempted to detain him.
Jackson was located and taken into custody with the assistance of a K-9 officer.
