Domestic Assault Call Results In 3 Hour Standoff With Deputies

LANDIS, NC — A Rowan County man accused of assaulting his wife Wednesday morning is facing multiple charges after a three hour standoff with deputies.

Christopher Foster barricaded himself inside his home on N. Chapel Street around 7am when deputies were called to a domestic assault. Foster’s wife told deputies the assault began after he became angry when she suggested he seek medical treatment.

When she was finally able to grab her purse and run out of the house for help, Mrs. Foster says her husband fired a gun in an unknown direction.

Responding deputies say Mr. Foster was standing in the driveway when they arrived, and quickly ran back to the house where he proceeded to barricade himself inside. Officials say Mrs. Foster was located with a swollen bloody nose and taken for treatment.

Around 9:50am, officials say Mr. Foster finally agreed to surrendered without incident. Deputies say a search warrant was executed on the house where they found a handgun and spent shell casing inside.

Chistopher Foster is charged with Assault on a Female and Resist, Obstruct, and Delay of a Public Officer.
