Safety committee to discuss teen takeovers

Teens are staying out past curfew, causing a public safety issue, according to Charlotte City Council.

City officials say they’re dealing with more teen takeovers while kids are out for summer break. Officials say these illegal meetups often happen in Uptown, and they sometimes lead to property damage or even violence.

The city council will look at policies that could help teens stop ignoring the curfew.

The curfew is 11 p.m. for teens 13-15 and 10 p.m. for kids 12 and under.
