SC high school marching band heading to Hawaii
A small South Carolina high school band is headed for the big leagues.
The Ware Shoals High School marching band has been handpicked to represent the Palmetto State in the Pearl Harbor Day Parade in Hawaii.
Sending the students across the Pacific comes with a major price tage, and the community is rushing to foot that bill.
βThis is something that will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them,β band director Christie Hodge said. βThey will always know that people fought for them to get to go there, that people tried so hard that, you know, we made this happen for them.β
The community has already raised $100,000. Theyβre still short of their $160,000 goal.Β
