Pineville Police: Father arrested, charged after stabbing five-year-old son to death

PINEVILLE, N.C. – Family and friends are remembering a five-year-old boy, stabbed to death, allegedly by his father in Pineville. A GoFundMe page calls Khalil Echoles a “sweet, bright, and joyful little boy…whose smile could light up every room.”

Investigators say 31-year-old Jehaaz-Akil Echoles broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and killed the little boy. It happened just after midnight Thursday on Sabal Park Drive. Police arrested Echoles at the Taco Bell in Pineville.

Another child in the apartment was not hurt.
