CHARLOTTE, NC — A man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted a woman at a business Friday morning, then assaulted the responding CMPD officer.
The manager of a Central Avenue business called police around 8:20am in reference to a man assaulting a female employee. The responding officer located the suspect, 38-year-old Jason Brandon nearby at the intersection of Central Avenue and Rosehaven Drive.
Before the officer could call for backup, officials say Brandon began assaulting him as he tried to get out of his cruiser. The officer was finally able to place Brandon under arrest, officials say, thanks to the help of nearby citizens.
CMPD says the officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Brandon was also transported by Medic with minor injuries.
Brandon is charged with Assault on a Female, Assault by Strangulation, Assault on a Law Enforcement Official/Public Officer Inflicting Serious Injury, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Resisting Public Officer.
