IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A 53-year-old Rowan County man is accused of trying to solicit sex from a 12-year-old Iredell County girl.
Investigators say Arnold Joe Eberhart, of Cleveland, sent multiple text messages to the victim that were sexual in nature. The messages were allegedly aimed at getting the victim to meet him near her home so they could have sex.
The investigation began after the child’s parent filed a report on June 14th. The parent told deputies that their child had received inappropriate messages for Eberhart.
Eberhart was arrested on Sunday by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Felony Soliciting Child by Computer.
Officials say Eberhart was placed on the Rowan County Sex Offender Registry in 1995 for one count of Second Degree Rape. He was released NC Department of Corrections in 2003 and placed on the sex offender registry.
