CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are still searching for two men who they say shot and killed a man during a home invasion Wednesday morning.
Family members worked in the afternoon to repair the door they broke down before killing Mike Crawford, but they are the ones who are left broken.
“[They] killed my brother in my mother’s house with his kids and my mother in there,” said the victim’s sister, Tonia Crawford.
She says it all happened after 3:00 in the morning. Her brother was asleep when police say intruders rushed the house.
“They said something about money, that we know you got some money,” said Crawford. “My brother didn’t have any money because if he had money, they would have got the money or police would have got the money.”
She says that’s when the men ended up shooting her brother while his 75-year-old mother, his three-year-old daughter, his son and his girlfriend hid in fear.
Once the gunmen left, they looked out the window and saw two men running across the yard, but they couldn’t tell who the men were.
Police snapped crime scene photos through the night while they canvassed the area for witnesses but still do not have any suspects.
“My brother leave his kids, his three kids on this earth, and they won’t have no daddy,” said Crawford.
She now worries her family may never see justice for her brother’s murder.
