CHERAW, S.C. — Police say a man was killed by fireworks Wednesday night in Cheraw.Β Officials say they received a call in the Dizzy Gillespie apartment complex just before 10pm in reference to a man being hit in the upper torso with fireworks.
Upon arrival officers say they found 24-year-old M.C. Gallion III on the ground and a female citizen was performing CPR on him.
Gallion was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.Β Police say based on witness statements it appeared that Gallion was holding a cylinder tube in his hands in an attempt to discharge an aerial type firework.Β The fireworks exploded, striking Gallion in the upper torso area and as a result of his injuries he collapsed and later died.
