CHARLOTTE, NC — Crews in west Charlotte were trying to stay cool due to hot outside temperatures Friday while fighting a two-alarm fire.
The fire broke out just before 1pm at a three story vacant motel on Berryhill at Wilkinson Blvd. The blaze was quickly upgraded to a two-alarm fire, and took over 40 firefighters roughly 23 minutes to bring it under control.
Officials say six firefighters were treated with IV’s on scene by Medic. Due to the hot temperatures, crews were constantly being monitored for changes in blood pressure and dehydration.
No injuries were reported. The investigation into what started the fire is ongoing.
