Newton man sentenced to prison for taking photo of six-year-old girl’s private area

NEWTON, N.C. – A Newton man has been sentenced to up to 13 years in prison for first-degree child exploitation. Coy Scott, Junior pleaded guilty Tuesday in Catawba County Superior Court.

Investigators say the 53-year-old pulled a six-year-old girl’s underwear to the side and then took a photo of her private area with his phone.

They were able to link the photo to Scott through a distinctive finger tattoo and rings visible in the image. He must also register as a sex offender for 30 years.
