IRON STATION, N.C. — Three pipe bombs exploded around 12:45 a.m. Monday in a residence yard on the 5900 block of Dalmatian Drive.

There was also a small fire and an unexploded bomb that was detected near the roadway. The bomb was described as being a a piece of a PVC pipe, about a foot long, attached to a small propane tank.Β

No one was hurt. Agents with the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are investigating.

Local residents are allowed in the neighborhood and all other traffic is being routed around the scene off of Highway 73
