Two charged with murder after human remains found in Morganton

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. – Two individuals have been arrested after human remains were found in Burke County.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Glen Alpine Police Department responded to a suspicious report on the nature trail at 618 Hennessee Street in Morganton. The next day while conducting their investigation, authorities found human remains near the trail.  A joint investigation into the death of the unidentified person was launched.

Jamar Propst and Tosha Lewis, 36, were charged with two counts of felony conspiracy and first-degree murder. Propst and Lewis were taken into custody on July 25th.

The remains were identified as 31-year-old Raheim Murray and 39-year-old Carla Murray.

This investigation remains ongoing.
