Lincoln Co. man arrested, accused of stabbing woman with pitchfork

LINCOLN CO., N.C. – A Lincoln County man is accused of stabbing a woman several times with a pitchfork. 29-year-old Nicholas Tompkins is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Investigators say the pitchfork stabbing happened late last Monday night at a home on Laboratory Road in Lincolnton. Tompkins fled the scene but was found and arrested the next day. He remains in the Lincoln County jail under $30,000 bond.

The victim was treated at the hospital. There’s no word on her condition tonight.
