Storm damage in Catawba County believed to be from straight-line winds

Winds are estimated to have been roughly 75 mph.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – The National Weather Service out of Greenville-Spartanburg sent their team out to survey damage in Catawba County following Tuesdays storms. They have confirmed the damage near Conover is believed to be from straight-line winds, not a tornado.Wind Damage SurveyA Tornado Warning was issued shortly after 6:15 PM for parts of Catawba, Iredell and Lincoln counties. This Tornado Warning continued until 7 PM which included Hickory, Newton and Conover.
