SALISBURY, N.C. — Crews are working to put out a massive fire at a scrap yard in Spencer. The fire started at Holmes Iron and Metal just before noon. This is located at North Long Street.

Dozens of fire departments, including Charlotte Fire are assisting with the fire. The fire has caused approximately 1,600 power outages in the area. A shelter is being coordinated for anyone without power.

There is no word on what caused the fire. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
