Heat Advisory in effect for several piedmont counties
Near record high temperatures are possible Friday with highs in the upper 90s
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Heat Advisory in effect for most counties south of I-85 Thursday. This includes Mecklenburg. Heat indices are expected to climb between 103° – 108°.
Advisories will likely be issued again through Monday as the oppressive conditions stick around.
The National Weather Service urges you to drink plenty of water, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave children and pets in unattended vehicles. The inside of a car will reach deadly temperatures in just minutes in this heat. Double and triple check your back seats.
