CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two drivers have been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a street racing crash on Interstate 85 that killed a teenager in July.
The crash happened along I-85 South near the exit to Sugar Creek Road around 7:30 p.m. on July 25
Investigators say Julia Henderson and Estrella Gutierrez-Perez crashed into a motorcycle being driven by 17-year-old Alex Rodriguez, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
22-year-old Julia Henderson was taken into custody on Aug. 13.
21-year-old Estrella Gutierrez-Perez was arrested in Burlington on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Both women have been charged with second degree murder and spontaneous speed competition resulting in death.
