Duke Energy volunteers assemble 10,000 hygiene kits for people in need

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – More than 200 volunteers from Duke Energy and other organizations came together Wednesday in Uptown to assemble 10,000 hygiene kits for people in need.

Organizers say people living without stable housing have a hard time finding basic items like soap and toothpaste. Half of the kits will go to Crisis Assistance Ministry and the other half will go to Roof Above.

Loree Elswick with Duke Energy Foundation says, “The kits that we’re putting together today are really essential products for members of our community that are facing homelessness that really just might need a little bit, a little something extra.”

800 inclement weather kits are also being distributed to seniors served through Meals on Wheels.
