Gaston County Has 2nd Confirmed Rabies Case In 2018

BESSEMER CITY, N.C. — Officials say a sick kitten has tested positive for rabies in Gaston County.

Officers from the Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement Division were called to The Pet Hospital on East Virginia Avenue on July 26th in reference to a two-month-old kitten that was sick.

The kitten was impounded and tested.  The test came back positive for rabies.

The Gaston County Police Department Animal Care and Enforcement Division stresses the importance of having a valid rabies vaccination for all of your pet’s health and safety as well as the health and safety of their owners and community.

This represents the second confirmed rabies case in Gaston County this year.
