Severe weather roars through Charlotte on Friday night, downs trees and power lines

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Friday’s storms damaged several homes in our area. A tree crashed down on a home on Huntingtowne Farms Lane in south Charlotte. A neighbor tells us that they were getting to run errands around five PM when they saw a tree on top of a house, and started to worry about the family who lives there.

Virginia Davidson says, “We were looking down the street when we were got in the car and we could see that there were a lot of people outside the house, so we knew that something had happened. So we, like, were looking around. I was really shocked and scared.”

Another neighbor says the damage reminded him of Hurricanes Hugo and Fran. Brian Davidson says, “I was in Hurricane Hugo at UNC Charlotte a long time ago. But it’s fortunate, I understand they’re okay. Houses can be replaced, but not people.”
