YORK, SC — The York County Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed after running off the road and hitting a tree Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, 67-year-old Charles Latta was traveling on Devinney Road when he crossed the intersection at US 321 near York Middle School and ran off the road hitting a tree. Troopers say Latta was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators say Latta and an unidentified passenger were both wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred. The passenger was taken to Piedmont Medical Center with injuries.
Officials say they still do not know what caused the accident. Autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
