Suspect arrested after hours-long standoff in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A man is in custody after a 12-hour police standoff in northeast Charlotte.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the response started just before 5 p.m. Monday at the Evoke Living at Sugar Creek Apartments on Merlane Drive.

Police say 33-year-old Jerricho Alexander was safely taken into custody around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He now faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, attempted murder, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and possession of a firearm by a felon.
