SWAT standoff with shooting suspect ends after 12 hours in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A nearly 12-hour long SWAT standoff in north Charlotte is over after the suspect surrendered. We first brought this to you as breaking news Monday night at 10. Investigators say 33-year-old Jerricho Alexander, who is a person of interest in a shooting from over the weekend, barricaded himself inside an apartment on West Sugar Creek Road.

It happened after police spotted him at the Evoke Living Apartments around five PM. We’re told around 12:30 AM, Alexander fired his weapon at officers from inside the apartment. No one was hurt. Negotiations continued through the night.

Alexander then surrendered to swat officers just before 4:30 AM. He’s facing several charges including attempted murder.
