CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB) — The jerseys have been counted, and the boxes packed. The process to get the Panthers ready for training camp in Spartanburg is made easy by equipment manager Jackie Miles.
"We took a couple truck loads down Wednesday; we kind of stage it out," Miles said.
Miles has been with the team more than two decades. He outfits anyone and everyone who travels to be with the team at camp. From star quarterback Cam Newton to the lesser known people–like the team’s interns.
He moves computers, beds, TVs and even the team’s secretaries.
"We have it down to a science," Miles said. "It’s tough operating out of two different places until we get down there completely."
What miles enjoys the most… is just getting away and everyone under one roof.
"It gives you a chance to get down there and bond and get a lot of football done," Miles said of his affection for camp. "Me and my guys are here to make them as comfortable as possible. We want to know that we can help them any way we can so they can concentrate on what they need to do to win football games."
