Judge sentences Charlotte man for gunning down couple in front of their three-year-old child
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for a 2020 shooting that killed a couple.
On Wednesday, a Mecklenburg County jury found Xaveon Dunn guilty of two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say in October 2020, Dunn opened fire on a vehicle on Kilborne Drive in east Charlotte after nearly colliding with it.
Dondrake Blackmoore and Jakailah Jackson were both hit and killed. Their 3-year-old son was sitting in the back seat at the time but was unharmed.
A superior court judge sentenced Dunn to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
