Jury convicts former Fort Mill paramedic of sexually assaulting teen while she was having a medical emergency
MECKLENBURG CO., N.C. – A jury found a former Fort Mill paramedic guilty of sexually assaulting a teen in an ambulance while she was having a medical emergency. 34-year-old Akingbiwaju Opadele will spend up to 12 years in prison.
The assault happened on January 17, 2023, after the teen suffered a seizure at school and was being rushed to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital. She immediately reported the assault to hospital staff, and asked that Opadele leave her hospital rom. Hospital staff corroborated the teen’s allegations, as did DNA evidence.
Opadele must also register as a sex offender for 30 years.
