Charlotte City Council votes 9-2 in favor of new 10p teen curfew

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte City Council voted 9-2 at their Monday night meeting to adopt a new teen curfew. Starting in November, anyone under the age of 18 has to be home by 10pm every night of the week.

Several exceptions would be in place for things like coming home from work, running an errand for a parent, or attending a school or religious event.

The new curfew, which CMPD Chief Estella Patterson has advocated for, comes after concerns about dangerous “teen takeovers” throughout the area.

The new curfew will be part of a pilot program that will run through next August. This is a developing story, check back with WCCB News at Nine and Ten for updates.
