CHESTERFIELD, S.C. – Four additional officers have been terminated following the death of Gary Blair at the Chesterfield County Detention Center. These terminations occurred over the past two days.
They follow the termination of the Director of the Chesterfield County Detention Center five days after the incident and another correctional officer was terminated on September 2nd. Six employees have been terminated from their positions in connection with this incident.
“This remains an active investigation. SLED is the investigating agency and is conducting a thorough and comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding this case and all available evidence. The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office will continue to fully cooperate with SLED throughout the investigative process. As evidence is presented to our office, we will continue to evaluate the information and take appropriate action when warranted. Everyone involved must be held responsible and accountable for their actions and their respective roles in this matter, regardless of how big or small that roles might have been.” Sheriff Streater said.
