MANASSAS, V.A. – A Charlotte native has identified in connection to a shooting incident that occurred at a United Rentals location in Manassas.
Monassas Police responded to a call for a shooting that occurred at United Rentals on Wellington Road. Officers located three victims and provided emergency medical aid. The victims were transported to a local hospital where two of them died.
Ricky Lamot, 48, and Christopher Serrano, 33, died after being hospitalized.
Marvin Grant, 37 of Charlotte, was identified as the suspect and fled the scene before the police arrived. Detectives began attempting to ping Grant’s phone and located it in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Virginia State Police continued the investigation.
A Virginia State Police spotted the suspect’s silver Toyota Camry, which then stopped at a rest area when troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Grant exited then returned to his vehicle and continued to travel on Interstate 81.
Troopers initiated a pursuit in response and the suspect pulled over on the side of the interstate. Grant was pronounced dead due to a self-inflicted gun shot wound after being taken to the hospital for treatment.
There was no use of force by Virginia State Police. The incident remains under investigation.
