Body Pulled From Lake Norman Following Search For Missing Person

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a 45-year-old man was recovered around 7pm from Lake Norman following a multi-agency search that lasted several hours.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected at this time.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Several agencies are assisting in a search right now for a possible missing person on Lake Norman.
Charlotte Fire Department’s dive team has been called to assist with the search. Officials say the call came in around 4pm Tuesday as a possible swimmer in distress on Williamson Road.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office sent the following message out Tuesday evening to residents about the search:
“Attention Mooresville and South Iredell Residents: Please avoid the area of Williamson Road near the bridge if possible.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation assisted by several local fire departments into possibly a missing person in or near the lake.
Earlier today a caller stated to emergency communications they may have observed a person in the water having difficulties.
Sheriff’s office patrol deputies and investigators responded to the location described by the caller. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deployed its drone and lake patrol boats in efforts to search the area.
A unattended vehicle was identified and we are currently trying to locate the registered owner and family members. Please share this information with your friends and contacts.

Troopers with the NC Highway Patrol have closed down Williamson Road leading up to the search area. Drivers should be aware of delays and seek alternate routes.
