HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – The Huntersville Police have arrested a suspect connected to a homicide near Eastfield Road.
Huntersville Police officers responded to an assault call on McGinnis Lane, where they found 65-year-old, Sandra Porter unresponsive. Officers determined that Sandra Porter’s husband had allegedly strangled her. Porter was transported to the hospital for treatment, remaining under medical care until she died from her injuries nine days later.
Cody Porter Jr., 66, was initially charged with assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. After Sandra Porter’s death, detectives charged Cody Porter with second degree murder.
No further information on the case will be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
