SOCIETY HILL, SC — Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say a driver was killed during a head on collision Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 11:25am on US-52 near Bethel Church Road. Investigators say Jim Chambley, 35, of Hartsville was driving his Chevrolet pickup truck when he crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the driver of a 2003 Mitsubishi sedan head on.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was not wearing a seat belt, troopers say, and was thrown from the vehicle.
Chambley was airlifted to Florence Hospital, but specifics on his condition have not been provided.
