Woman Killed In Alligator Attack On Hilton Head Island

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — A woman was killed in an alligator attack while she was reportedly walking her dog on Hilton Head Island.

The attack happened around 9:30am on August 20th off Wood Duck Road in Sea Pines Plantation, according to a news release.

Witnesses claim the woman was walking her dog near the lagoon when she was attacked and pulled underwater by the alligator.

The deceased woman’s body was recovered from the lagoon.  Her identity has not been released at this time.

Crews are on the scene searching for the alligator at this time.  The alligator is reportedly eight feet in length.

Officials say the deceased woman’s dog was not injured during the incident.
