CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers will try another new uniform combination, black pants with blue jerseys, when they take the field Friday night against the New England Patriots.
Last week, against Miami, Carolina wore white pants with their blue jerseys for the first time in team history, instead of the standard silver pants.
Equipment manager Don Toner says the impetus for the changes has come from the guys who wear the uniforms.
“It’s really coming from the players, they’re the ones who wanted to try something different,” said Toner.
The Panthers shared a Madden inspired video with Mario Addison modeling the black pants and blue jersey combo, and judging by the reactions on social media, fans are feeling the look.
It’s fun to see these styles in the preseason, but fans want to know if they can look forward to different uniform combinations during the regular season.
“We’ll talk with Coach Rivera and some of the players,” Toner said. “We’ll see.”
