Fall leaf expert: Go to NC mountains now through next weekend for peak colors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – From the mountains to the Piedmont, North Carolina is starting to show off its fall colors. Dr. Howard Neufeld, known as “The Fall Color Guy,” talked with WCCB about when to expect the best color this season and how long it could last.

Neufeld says, “You usually get about a week to ten days so I think we are approaching near peak this weekend. I think anytime the coming week will be good. And I think the following weekend will also be good.”

Dr. Neufeld says even though temperatures have been above average, the cold temperatures coming in could help produce more vibrant colors.
