LENOIR, NC — Caldwell County officials say the body of 83-year-old Jimmy “RC” Spears was found Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area near his home.
Spears’ body was found around 2pm after search crews from roughly 20 agencies spent all night and morning looking for the missing man with dementia. Officials say he was found in a wooded area on an adjoining property near his home. He was reportedly wearing a shirt, pajama bottoms and shoes.
Investigators say there are no signs of foul play.
Spears was reported missing Monday morning and a Silver Alert was issued later that afternoon. Spears’ son had talked to him on the phone around 10:30 Sunday night and last knew him to be at his Rays Place home.
